Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Trinity has been given the opportunity to be a teaching church. It has been suggested that Trinity consider having an intern from Perkins School of Theology at SMU. Interns from there function much like an associate pastor. In other words, an intern would preach, work with small groups, perhaps add some expertise to our 11:00 service, perhaps do some work with the youth, and anything else that a pastor might do. An intern will not replace anyone presently on staff or is volunteering in any area. If we have an intern, there would be times that the intern would meet with other interns in the area. Interns receive school credit for the year, so some time is needed to confer with personnel from the seminary and others who will help evaluate the work the intern is doing. SPRC, Finance Committee, and the Church Council have approved the possibility of having an intern. We are in the early stages of this process and have much to learn and many things to do before the possibility becomes a reality. One major factor is financial. We have already received $2,000.00 to begin a designated fund toward the stipend. We have another $2,000.00 pledged. If you could make a second mile donation, it would be greatly appreciated. If you could make a pledge to be paid out in, perhaps, monthly installments, that would also be helpful and appreciated. If you do choose to financially support an intern, please, memo your check. If you make a pledge, please, send/e-mail/give a note about the amount of the pledge and how you plan to give to your pledge: weekly, monthly, etc. If an intern is placed at Trinity, it will be after an interview process. It may happen this year or it might be next year. Internships go from August through May. As we explore ways to reach out into our community, an intern may add some perspectives and thoughts that we might not have considered. I hope you prayerfully consider this opportunity.
